The action at Vasa
June 25-26 1808, R=Demidoff S=Johan Bergenstråhle
While the swedish army was celebrating the northern "mid-summer" in Nykarleby, Bergenstråhle landed in Vasa. Adlercreutz had totally forgotten about this landing and did so not assist Bergenstråhle in any way. Swedish reinforcements of about 1000 troops were landed outside Vasa, the expedition was too small to defeat the Russians though, and after hard fighting in the streets of Vasa, only 500 of the initial soldiers landed were able to escape north to the main army in Nykarleby. Bergenstråhle himself was captured by the russians.
