This Toyota Crown RS-56 Van 1969 was for sale in "Keltainen Pörssi". We bought it over phone, just trusted the owner. He had bought it as new in october 1969. The car is in good condition inside, the dashboard is as new and the doorpanels are also in very good shape.
The sad thing is that rust has eaten up some parts of the doors, rocker panels and parts of the floor. But these things can bee fixed. One important thing is that it had all parts and even the radiator grille and bumpers are ok.

Natural born lowrider? Well, it looks very low.

Got a surprise when I got a chance to look inside the vechile. This is not a standard RS-56!
Those who remember old diesels know that this is the old system for glowing. Pull the knob, wait for about 30 sec, (depending on the temperature outside) - start the engine!
Time to laugh or to cry?! Under the hood sleeps a Peugeot Indenor Diesel. About 2 litre, 62 hp ... don´t know how many of these are around anymore ...
I don´t like it, just have to accept it. Have to change the engine. At some time there were many Crowns with Peugeot diesel engines in Finland. You could even buy the RS-60 sedan and RS-80 as new with these engines!
It might sound very strange with a Peugeot engine in a Crown ( also Cressida was sold with the same engines until Toyota came out with their L diesel engine). The reason was economical. Cars and fuel are expensive in Finland. Diesel is much cheaper than gasoline and a Crown with a Peugeot diesel needs only about 8 liter / 100 km when the 5R needs more than 10 liter / 100 km.
Back to the more fun things. The dashboard is in great shape. Pay attention to the extremely beautiful seat covers!
The Crown has also been equipped with a Sony soundmachine. The first owner did not want to break the dashboard just for the stereo so he installed it in his very own way. Thank him for that!
It may be old, but there are things that are as good as new. It seems that it has been a very rainy weather in Finland between october 1969 and 1978. The plastic is still on the visors.
- Did not find any reson to take them off, said the owner.
